To be considered for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). File online at studentaid.gov or use the myStudentAid mobile app.
Because of delays with the new FAFSA form in 2024, the Department of Education will not send individual financial aid information to colleges and universities until mid-March at the earliest.
Longwood’s priority filing date is March 1. Grant funds are limited, so file on time to ensure full consideration. If you have questions about financial aid before the priority filing date, please contact us at (434) 395-2077, and we will work with you individually on your circumstances.
Create your FSA ID at studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. Your FSA ID is how you will log in to the FAFSA and serves as your electronic signature.
The mobile app should say Federal Student Aid – U.S. Department of Education. Be sure to include Longwood’s school code: 003719.
Review your FAFSA Submission Summary and watch for any email notifications from the Department of Education or Office of Financial Aid.
Once you are accepted to Longwood through the admissions process, the Office of Financial Aid will receive your FAFSA from the U.S. Department of Education. The financial aid staff will use the information from your FAFSA to determine your eligibility for financial aid, state financial aid, federal loans, and federal work-study.
The Office of Financial Aid will provide a financial aid offer, which new students will receive via email. Current students will receive the offer through MyLongwood in the Financial Aid section.
In 2024, new students will receive financial aid offers in late March/early April. Returning students will receive their financial aid offer at the end of May after spring grades are submitted.
The FAFSA Must Be Filed Every Year
The application opens on October 1 for the following year. You will use the same FSA ID each year when you apply. File early!
