Angela McDonaldWelcome to the College of Education, Health, and Human Services at Longwood!

Here, future educators, nurses, social workers, counselors, speech-language pathologists, librarians, therapists, and physiologists work daily with amazing faculty to develop the skills they will use to have meaningful careers and lives.

We develop those skills by providing life-changing educational opportunities, a sense of belonging, and personalized support through excellent education in accredited undergraduate and graduate programs that build on our distinctive Civitae Core Curriculum. We also offer a variety of options in professional studies and endorsement areas for those seeking to expand their knowledge and skills outside of formal degree programs.

In addition to our in-the-classroom work, the College hosts centers and institutes that provide meaningful services to the community while giving students the type of experiential learning that makes our graduates some of the most sought-after in the field. Undergraduate audiology and speech-language pathology students work weekly with members of the Central Virginia community to diagnose and treat conditions, under the supervision of experienced professionals. Teaching candidates spend hours in area classrooms, working directly with K-12 students. Many of our kinesiology students begin to build client relationships as personal trainers at the Health & Fitness Center.

As Dean of this great College, I am so proud to join a community of scholars that works diligently to prepare students to be transformative in their future professional roles. In working with our students, faculty, and staff, I am filled with hope. With their caring engagement, you can be sure there is a place for you to belong at Longwood University. The campus is vibrant with activity year-round as faculty, students, and staff work with each other and across disciplines to collaborate with and highlight community members and distinguished guests from our disciplines.  Discover the hands-on learning, research opportunities, and supportive mentorship that the College of Education, Health, and Human Services provides!
