Handshake is the place that connects you, Longwood, and employers together. It houses jobs and internships posted specifically for students, employers actively recruiting Longwood students and on-campus jobs and internships. The positions on Handshake are meant for students, meaning most jobs posted require little to no experience, so you can get the work experience you need.
Best of all, Longwood partners with employers—bringing their best opportunities to campus and onto our platform just for you. The top employers—including all the Fortune 500—recruit students through Handshake, giving you access to jobs and internships not available anywhere else.

For additional questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with [email protected].
How do I find events and information sessions in Handshake?
Once you've logged in, information sessions, career fairs and career workshops can be found by clicking "Events" at the top of the page or selecting "Events" on the toolbar in the middle of the page. Career fairs can be found by clicking "Fairs" at the top of the page.
Why should I use Handshake?
Handshake has job listings and employment opportunities (including internships) meant for new and recent graduates. Unlike other sites, like Indeed.com, the opportunities on Handshake are meant for people with less experience and work history, and the companies that post them are ready to interview someone for their first or second job. You won't have to spend time sorting through job postings that require experience that you don't yet have.
Still find the job search process overwhelming?
We've created a page full of internships and job opportunities based on your major or area of interest. These lists automatically update when a new opportunity is approved in Handshake and has a specific keyword in the job description, so it's important to check it often for the latest opportunities. You can view the page here.
How is Handshake different from LinkedIn?
Handshake is designed to connect you to employers looking for new, young talent. LinkedIn connects you to people in your industry and other areas to expand your networking and career connections. Both sites offer career development opportunities, but Handshake is driven by active job seekers, and LinkedIn is designed to supplement your personal brand, regardless of where you are on your career path.
